President General Muhammad Pervez Musharaf showed serious concern
over culture and desired to promote culture and its values through holding
cultural sports events and providing healthy entertainment to public. He gave
the lead and awarded a heavy cash prize to pugilists Meherullah. Referring
Basant festival of Lahore is a clear direction to introduce similar events in
Karachi to attract public of all categories and status. He further emphasized to
promote local sports and asked non governmental organizations to come forward to
hold such positive entertainment events.
